Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka follows enigmatic candy manufacturer, Willy Wonka, as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory... or suffer the consequences.

Feeling lost in the shadows of marriage and forgotten in the rush of 1920s post-war society, two London housewives pool their savings to rent a villa in Italy. It is to be a ladies-only holiday joined by a pair of upper-class women to share the cost and the experience. Sweet-natured Lotty Wilton suffers depression from the bleak London winter as well as an oppressive relationship with her pompous solicitor-husband. When she sees an advertisement for a castle rental in Italy for the month of April, Lotty jumps at a chance to escape for the “idyllic spot for those who appreciate wisteria and sunshine.” Sensing instant kinship with fellow housewife Rose Arnott, Lotty persuades the angelic woman with sorrows of her own to join her. Seeking to reduce travel costs, the pair find Caroline Bramble, a beautiful and exhausted socialite, and Mrs. Graves, an overbearing widow, to round out the party. Together under the Mediterranean sun, the four women clash – then begin to bond and bloom – until men upset the balance. With the arrival of two chastened husbands and one attractive young artist, romance blooms again.

History
In 1983 a group of interested community members and community education personnel met to form the Greater Lakes Area Performing Arts. This group has been providing entertainment for the Lakes Area ever since. Greater Lakes Performing Arts (GLAPA) is responsible for setting a season of performances, soliciting season ticket sales, and raising funds to underwrite programs if necessary. GLAPA has an active membership of 120 plus season ticket holders who enjoy a theatre and arts season of visiting performers, touring theatre shows, and guest artists as well as the Pequot Lakes Community Theatre programs.
Pequot Lakes Community Theatre was established in 1984. It began with a variety type show called BITS OF BROADWAY which generated the seed money to produce subsequent shows. It has been active each year since, recently presenting two productions yearly which are part of the GLAPA theatre season . The fall show has traditionally been a musical and the spring show a non-musical production.
Greater Lakes Area Performing Arts (GLAPA) Board Structure
GLAPA meetings are held once a month. An agenda is organized by the GLAPA chairperson and the Community Education Director. Agendas and minutes of the previous board minutes are emailed to members of the board. Members of the GLAPA Board include the Director of Community Education, community theatre board chairperson, and interested members of the community.
GLAPA Board Responsibilities
1. Setting the performance season
2. Season Ticket Sales
3. Managing season performances
4. Fund Raising
5. Overseeing Community Theatre Production Board

East versus West makes for a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of enormous fascination. It is 1862 in Siam when English window, Anna Leonowens, and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by those in the West, and he seeks Anna’s assistance in changing his image, if not his ways. With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values. Anna and the King grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another, in a truly unique love story.
